Magdalena Skupinska

Art Form: Visual Art

Residency Year: 2026

Lives / Works: London, UK

Magdalena Skupinska is a visual artist based in London, UK

Her practice explores the material and conceptual entanglements between organic matter, landscape, and human intervention. Rooted in research and experimentation, her work engages with the complex, often uneasy, relationship between natural and constructed environments. Working with plant-based pigments, minerals, and raw materials, Skupinska explores the field of abstraction, with a focus on material agency and ecological consciousness. She completed her BA in Fine Art at Central St Martins, London, and her MA in Painting at The Royal College of Art, London.

In Residence at Bundanon

During my time at the residency, I will focus on exploring Australian ochres in combination with plant fibres in the process of paint-making. Through hands-on experimentation and engagement with the material histories of the place, I will work towards developing colour recipes that will inform future projects. At the same time, I will continue a series of drawings, exploring further my study of composition and form.
