Vale Margaret Anne Smith, who passed away in 18 May 2015 in Sydney after a long battle with cancer. Smith was founder of Smith Street Films and made films for broadcast and the education market since 1987. She was in residence at Bundanon in 2013 and was due to take up another residency in 2015. Bundanon extends sympathy to her family and friends.

Before her passing Smith was working on a film about three Australian artists, Sophie Cape, Elisabeth Cummings and Luke Sciberras. It looked at their work here and also in Asia and Gallipoli. It was a broad sweeping story abut three charismatic people. She was also developing her series IMAGINING A NATION which explores Australia’s history through artists, writers and scientists who have a strong attachment to country. Her collaborator in this project was Professor Larissa Behrendt.
