Match Percussion

Art Forms: Composition, Music/Sound, Performance

Residency Years: 2009, 2006

Lives / Works: Australia

Formed in 2001, MATCH Percussion, Daryl & Alison Pratt are two of Australia’s leading percussionists. Their repertoire, primarily focused on the two main percussion keyboard instruments (Daryl – vibraphone and Alison – marimba), includes music composed or arranged by Daryl and works composed especially for them.

When Daryl and Alison Pratt were artists in residence at Bundanon in December 2002, he wrote some works for MATCH Percussion that dealt with the water bodies in the region around Bundanon. This music, performed throughout Australia and North America, has since been recorded and released by Belinda Webster of Tall Poppies Records. Bundanon Landscape (2003) on Pratt’s Alchemy TP170 and Water Settings (2005) TP183. Webster has since started to set Water Settings to film, as she has had a long-standing fascination with both still and moving images of water. All three artists were in residence in 2009 to focus on developing a new piece that is inspired by the Shoalhaven River.
