Nigel Wearne

Art Forms: Composition, Music/Sound, Performance

Residency Year: 2017

Lives / Works: Australia

Equipped with personally handcrafted guitars, Nigel Wearne melds fingerstyle guitar, clawhammer banjo, folk and honest storytelling. Gleaning diverse influence from artists such as Townes Van Zandt, Bruce Cockburn and Sun Kil Moon, he tells stories of forgotten rebels, wandering poets and his love of eggs.

Wearne was in residence with Luke Watt in 2017. Together, they co-wrote a concept album exploring tales of mutiny, civil disobedience and oppression that lie in the shadows of Australian history. Their debut single ‘ Above The Bit’ was released in October 2018.
