Roanna Gonsalves is the author of The Permanent Resident (2016) which won the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards Multicultural Prize 2018, and was longlisted for the Dobbie Literary Award 2018.

During her 2019 residency, Gonsalves continued work on a new book.

Gonsalves used her 2018 eesidency to work on her next book, which is historical fiction set in the early colony of New South Wales, during the time of Governor Lachlan Macquarie and his Indian servant.
