DiscoverMusical theatre writing duo Sheanna Parker Russon and Lillian Hearne premiered their inaugural work, Trans Theatre Collective’s No Love Song for Lady Basses at The Old Fitz Theatre in 2024 to high critical acclaim.
Building from this work, Sheanna and Lillian strive to make theatre more accessible to and inclusive of trans performers. Sheanna is currently studying her Master of Fine Arts (Dramatic Writing) at NIDA, and Lillian is working as Musical Director for Green Door Theatre Company’s A Transgender Woman on the Internet, Crying. Afterglow is the continuation of Sheanna and Lillian’s trans-centred work and the culmination of Sheanna’s theatre experience as a writer, actor, and director and Lillian’s composition experience and extensive background in barbershop harmony singing as a performer, arranger, musical director, coach, educator, and judge. They are excited to be premiering Afterglow in July 2026 as part of Griffin Theatre Company’s Griffin Lookout.
Sheanna Parker Russon and Lillian Hearne will create a canon of musical theatre songs and shows that are accessible to trans and gender diverse performers across the world, with sheet music available at universities and in music libraries. They will use their residency at Bundadon to edit and finalise the script and score of Afterglow for production after the premier season so that the show and its songs can be made available for trans and gender diverse performers around the world.
