Virginia Jones

Art Forms: Installation, Visual Art

Residency Year: 2008

Lives / Works: Australia

Virginia Jones has over 50 years of experience creating outdoor ephemeral art installations that honour nature, biodiversity and Australia’s native flora. Her works are made from high-quality southern ice porcelain. These Little vessels are a series of bowls and spoons inspired by seeds ability to carry information around the world. The Queensland Botanic Collection evokes maps, adventure and the beauty of Australia’s waterways, beaches and bushland.

Jones used her residency to explore the use of local, natural materials for the construction of ephemeral installations responding to the Australian landscape.
