Barry Pearce – Emeritus Curator of Australian Art, Art Gallery of New South Wales, and guest curator of Landscape of the Soul – discusses Arthur Boyd’s explorations of landscape both interior and exterior.
ABOUT BARRY PEARCE
An internationally renowned expert in Australian art, Barry Pearce graduated with a Diploma of Art (Teaching) from UniSA antecedent Western Teacher’s College and went on to build an internationally respected career in art curation, research, and education. He was conferred Fellow of the University of South Australia (FUniSA) in 2015. Author of more than 35 books and exhibition catalogues and 50 journal articles and curator of over 40 exhibitions, Pearce has worked at institutions including the South Australian Art Gallery and The British Museum in London.
Pearce began his curatorial career at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1978, becoming appointed Head Curator of Australian Art in 1998 until his retirement in 2011. He now holds the prestigious position of Emeritus Curator.
