Edward Becker

Art Forms: Performance, Visual Art

Residency Year: 2019

Lives / Works: Virginia, USA

Edward Becker’s research and creative works explore the interplay between nature and emerging technologies. As human intervention increasingly impacts the earth’s biosphere – from micro-scale genetic engineering to macro-scale urban growth – his works question what constitutes our understanding of ‘nature’ and what progressive opportunities are afforded through the challenging or reconstitution of such preconceptions.

During his residency, Becker expanded on his previous work on the interplay between nature and technology by raising critical social, cultural, and ethical questions about how humans impact nature through our built environments.
