Rebekah Stuart

Art Forms: Dance, Music/Sound, Performance, Visual Art

Residency Year: 2026

Lives / Works: Brisbane

Rebekah Stuart is a contemporary artist and dancer exploring an alternative aesthetic to the traditional and Romantic landscape, and the fertile ground where art and dance coalesce.

Trained in Gaga with the Batsheva Dance Company, and in contemporary practices with Chunky Move and Lucy Guerin Inc, alongside Anne O’Keeffe, Al Wunder, contact improvisation and Five Rhythms, she has worked as an artist for twenty-five years (BEd/Vis Arts, Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne).

In Residence at Bundanon

At Bundanon, Rebekah Stuart will develop Tremendum, a multi-modal staged landscape integrating dance, visual art, sound, and lighting. Using both studio and the surrounding environment, filmed improvisations, Baroque-inflected soundscapes, iterative choreography, and on-site visual artworks will converge to form four temporal landscapes — Twilight to Sunrise, culminating in the Elysian Fields. Inspired by Renaissance, Baroque, and Romanticism masterpieces, Tremendum evokes the threshold where beauty and immensity dissolve the boundaries of the self. Bundanon will serve as a site for interdisciplinary exploration of historical tableaux, performative space, and the emergence of awe through embodied perception.
