Tea Mäkipää

Art Forms: Film/Video, Installation, Photography, Sculpture, Visual Art

Residency Year: 2014

Lives / Works: Finland

Finnish artist Tea Mäkipää works across installation, photography, video and sculpture to investigate the relationship between nature and technology. She questions the logic of consumerism and progress within the ever-increasing luxurious living conditions of our western world. Often working with animals and plants Mäkipää employs elementary acts, such as food production, collective living and creating shelters to explore ecological, social and ethical responsibility. At the core of her practice is the proposition of the post-environmental, a space where society establishes a new humanism more sensitively aligned to the existence of other species on our planet.

Mäkipää was in residence at Bundanon in 2014.
