Museum Season

Bait-al-Nahl بيت‭ ‬النحل – The House of Bees

Mehwish Iqbal

31 October 2026 – 14 February 2027

These learning experiences are informed by the Mehwish Iqbal Bait-al-Nahl بيت‭ ‬النحل – The House of Bees museum season and are connected to the ideas, themes and material practices of the artists and artworks in this exhibition.

Museum Season Learning Activities:

Spark Ideas (1 hour)

All versions of this season’s learning experience start with learners in the art museum. Explore and respond to artworks on display in the Art Museum to spark ideas for related artmaking workshops. Mehwish Iqbal Bait-al-Nahl بيت‭ ‬النحل – The House of Bees is an ambitious, multidisciplinary exhibition including newly commissioned textile works. A major theme of the exhibition is “the idea of harmony—how it is made, fractured, and reimagined in times of uncertainty” — Mehwish Iqbal.

Circling Inside – Circling Outside

Circling Inside – Circling Outside is a learning experience that directly responds to the exhibited artwork, Circulation I, II, III, IV  2026 and its focus on interconnectedness between humans, plants, and animals through shared systems of circulation in this work.

Depth of exploration of this theme via printmaking, drawing, collage, and assemblage is intensified by time; the longer you engage with the learning program, the deeper the dive!

  • Day visit version (2 hours) Create a collage using gelli plate prints of leaves and drawn observations of representations of circulatory systems from nature.
  • One-night stay version (5 hours) Create a collage using gelli plate prints, drawing studies and collagraph prints inspired by circulatory systems in nature.
  • Two-night stay version (8 hours) Create an assemblage that considers the interrelationships of ecologies, animals, and circulatory systems from nature. This assemblage uses collage, paper construction, and stitching techniques to create a unified artwork that features gelli plate prints, drawing studies and collagraph prints.
