Historical and award-winning architecture

The nineteenth century Homestead, twentieth century farm workers cottages, and world-renowned contemporary buildings, express Australian vernacular traditions of architecture.

In 1999, The Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Education Centre architects Glen Murcutt AO, Wendy Lewin, and Reg Lark was awarded the Sulman Award for public architecture. In 2022, the Kerstin Thompson Architects were also awarded the Sulman Medal and the Sir Zelman Cowan Award for Public Architecture in 2022 for the Art Museum and Bridge for Creative Learning.

The design concept both preserves and transforms, is equal parts subtle and dramatic. Renowned aspects of the current setting are maintained and their presence enhanced with an array of new and compelling visitor experiences. – Kerstin Thompson
